Celebrity peer Lord Brocket faces more sex charges

A celebrity peer faces additional charges of sexual assault following a court appearance.

Lord Charles Brocket is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one of sexual activity without consent in London on 10 August.

He was previously charged with one count of sexual assault by penetration in the village of Warbleton, East Sussex, on May 5, but that was dropped after a hearing on Monday.

The 73-year-old from Fulham, West London, who finished fourth on the 2004 series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, appeared at Isleworth Crown Court in west London on Tuesday but did not enter a formal plea.

His counsel Crispin Aylett KC indicated Lord Brocket intends to plead not guilty.

All the charges relate to one complainant.

His next court appearance is 9 January 2026 and a trial date is set for 1 November 2027.

Judge Martin Edmunds KC said the trial is estimated to last seven days, adding: "I apologise to all concerned in this case that it is so far in to the future but the combination of an increasing backlog of cases coming to court and those in custody matters must take priority."

Earlier, Lord Brocket spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth during a pre-trial preparation hearing.

He was conditionally bailed in advance of his next court appearance.
