Coldplay change Wembley dates due to Tube strike

Coldplay has announced that the final two London dates on its Music of the Spheres World Tour will be rescheduled due to a planned Tube strike.

In a statement on their website, the band said "impossible" to get 82,000 fans to and from Wembley Stadium without London Underground services.

They added: "Therefore no event licence can be granted for the nights of 7th and 8th September."

The band said to avoid cancelling the gigs altogether the Sunday 7 September show will move to Saturday 6 and the Monday 8th September show will move to Friday 12.

Coldplay said all tickets will remain valid for their rescheduled date and fans can use existing tickets.

They added: "Any ticket holders who are unable to attend their rescheduled show can get a full refund on their ticket, and are requested to contact their point of purchase before 12:00 BST on Tuesday 2 September."

Returned tickets will be sold from 11:00 on Wednesday 3 September.

The shows on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday will go ahead as scheduled.

The band said: "We're very sorry for the inevitable disappointment, frustration and inconvenience that this situation causes."

Despite changing the dates, Coldplay will still be playing 10 nights at Wembley Stadium, breaking the joint record set by Take That and Taylor Swift of performing eight shows at the venue in the same year.

The Music of the Spheres is already the most-attended concert tour in history, according to Guinness World Records.

In August, the RMT union announced a seven-day strike from 5 September which they said was over pay, hours, shift management and fatigue.
